A Commercial Remodel After Disaster at the Red Lion Hotel in St. George
In the fall of 2023, we started the process of a commercial remodel after the disaster of a burst standpipe at the Red Lion Hotel in St. George, Utah. Water flooded the conference room and over a dozen hotel rooms on the first floor. The carpets, significant portions of the drywall, and numerous cabinets and other structural elements in the rooms would need to be replaced.
Commercial Demo
The commercial demo work itself took a great deal of time and manpower but after the water had been removed and the area was dry, we got right to work.
All of the content in every one of the rooms and the conference room had to be removed. What was salvageable was placed in storage and what wasn’t was disposed of.
We pulled out all the flooring throughout the damaged rooms and began working on the interior walls that would need to be replaced.
Commerical remodel after disaster in a commercial space always comes with challenges and this job was no exception.
We did our best to minimize the impact of our commercial demo, remodeling, and restoration work on the guests of the hotel staying in the other rooms and to provide the hotel owner with the best chance to continue earning revenue from the undamaged portions of the building while we worked.
Commercial Remodel
Having construction taking place in a commercial space can be challenging for those working in that space, including cleaners, handymen, concierge employees, and management. But we did our very best to minimize the impact on the staff and guests. We did what we could to mitigate the dust, noise and disturbance.
Our friends at Red Rock Demo only worked during hours when the noise would be acceptable to guests in other parts of the hotel. We utilized the latest commercial demo and commercial construction techniques designed to minimize the dust kicked up by our work.
In all, we completed the project with minimal impact to the parts of the hotel that were not impacted by the water damage.
It took several months but in the end the project came out looking better than it had before the flood.
The Results - A Commercial Renovation Better Than Before
There were several items we improved after the flood damage thus allowing us to state with certainty that we left the hotel looking better than it had before the flood.
Not only is the carpet, much of the cabinetry, the base and finish work, and a good portion of the furniture all new, it’s also an improvement over what had been there in the past.
A great example of this is in the carpeting that covered much of the area impacted by the flood.
Thousands of square feet of carpeting that lay throughout the lobby and in the conference room had been initially installed without having a matching pattern. This made each and every seam in the carpet very visible and extremely noticeable.
We replaced the old damaged carpet with a newer pattern that allowed us to hide these seems and create a much better visual experience in the conference room and lobby.
And that’s just one of the many small improvements our commercial renovation and restoration provided the hotel
